The Aspire Project is a non-profit, outreach dance organization providing year-round quality ballet, tap and jazz dance classes to financially disadvantaged students who are genuinely interested in the arts and whose families and schools cannot provide such opportunities. We accomplish this through our non-tuition based after-school program in partnership with Multnomah County's SUN Community Schools and classes offered with sliding scale tuition rates and scholarship opportunities in our dance studio in North Portland, Oregon.

By making the arts accessible, we strive to serve our community and under-served youth, promote their physical health and motivate them to believe they can accomplish whatever they aspire to become. We strive to create early positive experiences that are equally accessible for all North Portland children. Through weekly structured classes, our programs help reduce obesity risk among low-income youth and increase developmental accomplishments.

Since 2009, The Aspire Project has chosen to teach in under-served Portland schools & neighborhoods where 75-100% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch. All children who want a chance to dance are welcome, regardless of their family’s financial status.

Having served over 4,000 students since 2009, The Aspire Project has grown to serve over 300 students per term in our North Portland, St. Johns studio, with a schedule of approximately 50 weekly youth & adult dance classes and fitness classes, as well as academic tutoring and computer programming classes. In addition, we continue to serve approximately 50 students per term in five North Portland SUN school classes.
